Basketball Game Preview: Seminole County Indians vs. Cairo Syrupmakers

The Seminole County Indians will challenge the Cairo Syrupmakers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Seminole County has three straight wins, Cairo has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Seminole County didn't have too much trouble with Stewart County as they won 54-36.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Seminole County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kamauri Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Zach King was another key player, putting up ten points along with five assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, Cairo suffered their closest defeat since December 21, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Thomas County Central by a score of 58-55. While losing is never fun, the Syrupmakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 425th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 136th).

Seminole County's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8. As for Cairo, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Seminole County couldn't quite finish off Cairo in their previous matchup back in December of 2021 and fell 56-53. Can Seminole County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
