Recap: Canistota Hawks vs. Deubrook Dolphins
The Canistota Hawks had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 65-57 victory over Deubrook on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Deubrook's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mataya Gouws, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds. Delaney Pedersen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Canistota's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Deubrook, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Canistota will head out on the road to face off against Centerville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Deubrook, they will be playing in front of their home fans against DeSmet at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
