Baseball Game Preview: Gateway Gators vs. The Bay School Breakers

For the second straight game, Gateway will face off against The Bay School. The Gators will face off against the Breakers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Gateway has struggled recently with 14 defeats in a row, while The Bay School will arrive with 11 straight victories.

Gateway fell victim to The Bay School and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Breakers, falling 17-0.

For The Bay School's part, Jasper Cook made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cook has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nate Won was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Terje Steele was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

The Bay School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gateway only posted an OBP of .250.

The Bay School's record now sits at 14-3. As for Gateway, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Gateway has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like The Bay School struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
