The Chaparral Wolverines will face off against the Heritage Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Chaparral is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Chaparral barely beat Douglas County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Huskies on Monday. Considering the Wolverines have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Beckett Bacon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Chaparral is 6-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-3 otherwise.
At the plate, Chaparral got a big performance out of Ryne Dodson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Grant Larson, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Chaparral was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Heritage came up short against Rock Canyon on Monday and fell 12-9. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost four in a row.
Mason VanWyk made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. James Long was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Chaparral, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Chaparral hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Chaparral took their victory against Heritage in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-3 score. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
