Softball Recap: Soquel Knights vs. Scotts Valley Falcons
Soquel extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-8 in the process. They lost 12-2 to the Scotts Valley Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-2 two weeks ago.
As for Scotts Valley, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-5-1. Considering they have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Scotts Valley's part, Sofie Seese tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Seese has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Gracie Delgado was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Natalie Murray-Skalland, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Looking ahead, Soquel will host Aptos at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Scotts Valley, they will be playing at home against Harbor at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.29 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
