La Salle Academy is 8-2 against Prout since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, La Salle Academy made easy work of Chariho and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won four in a row.
La Salle Academy's got stronger as the match went on, holding Chariho to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-13, 25-3.
Meanwhile, Prout hadn't done well against South Kingstown recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Crusaders walked away with a 3-1 win over the Rebels.
Prout had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-20.
La Salle Academy better focus on containing Lily Cui and Juliet McGuire as the pair were huge in Prout's win. Cui had 17 digs, while McGuire had 11 assists and four digs. That's the most digs Cui has posted since back in September of 2024. Danica Caraway also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
Prout was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in six consecutive matchups.
La Salle Academy's record now sits at 3-1. As for Prout, their record is now 3-4.
La Salle Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Prout when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
