League recap: Gentile's hot bat leads Commodore Perry

Tyler Gentile was the hottest hitter in the league this week, racking up a 1.000 average, two home runs and 11 RBIs. His Commodore Perry team went 2-0.

the Panthers made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from fifth to third place in the league thanks to a 2-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Oil City fell hardest in the standings, dropping from fourth all the way to sixth place after going 0-2 in the past week. Grove City (10-5, 8-0) is now in first place.

Commodore Perry's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 13 hits and four walks to lead the league in both categories. On the season, the Panthers have allowed just 121 hits, while striking out 80 batters. Ian Anthony leads the Panthers with 22 strikeouts in 23 innings.

Commodore Perry scored a league-best 39 runs this week, adding to its league-leading 149 runs on the season. The Panthers' key hitters include Gentile, who has a team-high 24 runs, and Gentile, who leads the squad with with 25 RBIs.



The week's strikeout crown belonged to Joe Barnhart, who turned in five Ks for Slippery Rock. He's sixth in the league with 16 total strikeouts.

Gentile led the league with seven hits this week for Commodore Perry. His 31 hits for the year are first in the league, and he boasts a .585 batting average.
