Baseball Recap: Zumbrota-Mazeppa Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Zumbrota-Mazeppa challenged Pine Island on Tuesday. The Cougars took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa dropped their record down to 6-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.75 runs. As for Pine Island, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Coming up, Zumbrota-Mazeppa will head out on the road to take on Plainview-Elgin-Millville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pine Island, they will welcome Chatfield at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
