Basketball Game Preview: Logan Trojans vs. Decatur Community Red Devils

After both having extra time off, the Logan Trojans and the Decatur Community Red Devils will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another on Friday.

Logan is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They took a blow against Wheatland-Grinnell on December 13th, falling 51-21. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Thunderhawks: they've now lost nine in a row.

Meanwhile, Decatur Community hadn't done well against Trego recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Friday. Decatur Community took their contest with ease, bagging a 50-20 win over Trego. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-11.

Decatur Community's win came from a few key players Logan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jenna Fortin, who posted 13 points along with six boards and five steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Elsie Larson, who earned 13 points and eight rebounds.

Decatur Community was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trego only posted six assists.

Logan came up short against Decatur Community in their previous meeting back in January of 2020, falling 42-33. Thankfully for Logan, Anna Carter (who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 22 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
