Preview: Vacaville Christian Falcons vs. San Juan Spartans
The Vacaville Christian Falcons will head out on the road to challenge the San Juan Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
After soaring to a 20-point win in their last game, Vacaville Christian came back down to earth on Friday. They fell just short of Highlands by a score of 62-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Vacaville Christian has suffered since November 21, 2023.
Despite the defeat, Vacaville Christian saw an underclassman step up: Tai Douglas scored 20 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Douglas scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Adam Foreman, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to San Juan, who are still winless after their 14th contest. They took a serious blow against Rio Vista on Friday, falling 67-20. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for San Juan in their matchups with Rio Vista: they've now lost three in a row.
Vacaville Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for San Juan, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-14.
Everything came up roses for Vacaville Christian against San Juan in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 68-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vacaville Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
