Softball Recap: West Memphis Takes a Loss

West Memphis came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Batesville Pioneers, falling 20-5. Blue Devils fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Pioneers since on Tuesday.

Mackenzie Halford was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Sofia Davis also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

West Memphis' defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Batesville, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Memphis will square off against McCrory at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Batesville, they will be playing at home against Jonesboro at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pioneers are facing the Hurricane at the right time seeing as the Hurricane are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
