James Island hadn't done well against Stratford recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Monday. The Trojans narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  squad sidled past the Knights  3-1. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Trojans.
 Mary Davis Hancock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
 On the hitting side, James Island saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Gabby Noonan, who  went 2-for-4 with one  run and one  RBI. That's the most  hits  Noonan has posted since back in March.
 James Island  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters  in five consecutive  contests.
James Island's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Stratford,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 5-13-1.
As of now, neither James Island nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
