Preview: Spotswood vs. Metuchen
Spotswood have been homebodies their last two matches, but they are heading out on Saturday. They take on Metuchen at 2:00 PM. Spotswood are expected to win -- but not by much -- so they will need to come into the match prepared for a fight.
There's no need to mince words: Spotswood lost to Middlesex last Saturday, and they lost bad. The score wound up at 7-47. Spotswood's defeat came about despite a quality game from junior Tallen Smith, who accumulated 119 passing yards and picked up 32 yards on the ground. If you haven't heard Smith's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past four games.
Meanwhile, things haven't been easy for Metuchen, and their contest last Friday only extended their streak of losses to four. They took a 0-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bishop Ahr.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so their meeting could be a low-scoring affair.
