Softball Recap: John Carroll Has No Trouble Against Perryville

John Carroll had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Perryville on Wednesday. The John Carroll Patriots' pitchers stepped up to hand the Perryville Panthers a 12-0 shutout. The game marked the Patriots' most dominant victory of the season.

Emily Hildt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, John Carroll got a massive performance out of Kallissa Coats, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Mia Anderson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

John Carroll always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perryville only posted an OBP of .105.

John Carroll's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Perryville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. John Carroll will welcome Maryvale Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. John Carroll's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Maryvale Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Perryville, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Bohemia Manor at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give Perryville their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
