Softball Game Preview: Westlake Chaparrals vs. Akins Eagles

The Westlake Chaparrals will venture away from home to square off against the Akins Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Westlake and six for Akins.

Westlake came up short against Dripping Springs on Tuesday, falling 8-2.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Akins' offense. They lost 10-0 to Dripping Springs on Friday.

Akins saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julianna Martinez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. That's the most hits Martinez has posted since back in February.

Even though they lost, Akins was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Akins' loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Westlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.

Westlake skirted past Akins 6-4 in their previous matchup on March 4th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westlake since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
