Softball Recap: Montclair Takes a Loss

Montclair was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 7-4 to the Garey Vikings.

Zariah Surrey and Marlie Cardenas stepped up to the plate in a big way. Surrey scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Cardenas scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Cardenas is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Alyssa Junco also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Montclair's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Garey, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5.

Coming up, Montclair will host Don Lugo at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Garey, they will head out on the road to challenge Sultana at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sultana is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
