Volleyball Game Preview: Altoona Mountain Lions vs. Carlisle Thundering Herd

Altoona is 1-8 against Carlisle since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Mountain Lions will challenge the Thundering Herd at 6:30 p.m.

Altoona is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Cumberland Valley, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Mountain Lions have suffered since May 8, 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-11, 25-12.

Meanwhile, Carlisle made easy work of Central Dauphin East on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 win. The Thundering Herd haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Carlisle didn't let Central Dauphin East take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.

Carlisle now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Altoona, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Altoona couldn't quite get it done against Carlisle in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 3-1. Can the Mountain Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
