Baseball Recap: Frostproof Sets Scoring Season-High Against Haines City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Frostproof). They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Haines City Hornets on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Luke Thornton and Bradley Roberts did most of the damage at the plate: Thornton scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Roberts scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Roberts has become a key player for Frostproof: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ricky Wilson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Frostproof kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

The win got Frostproof back to even at 8-8. As for Haines City, they dropped their record down to 1-13 with the loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Frostproof will welcome Avon Park at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Avon Park's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Frostproof's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Haines City, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against McKeel Academy at 7:00 p.m.
