Soccer Recap: East Alton-Wood River Takes a Loss

East Alton-Wood River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Carlyle this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 back in August.

East Alton-Wood River's goal came courtesy of Mason Shewmake, who's now up to five this season.

East Alton-Wood River's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10-1. As for Carlyle, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-7 record.

Looking ahead, East Alton-Wood River will venture away from home to take on Breese Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. East Alton-Wood River will be up against Breese Central's rather soft defense (which has allowed 5.11 goals per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Carlyle, they wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Staunton on the 24th.
