Baseball Recap: Williamson Comes Up Short

Williamson had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-10 to make it six. They fell just short of the Sugar Valley Rural Phoenix by a score of 2-0. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 7-3 to the Phoenix when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Sugar Valley Rural, they moved to 6-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 30th.

For Sugar Valley Rural's part, Bentley Andrus was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Andrus has become a key player for Sugar Valley Rural: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 3-7 otherwise. Andrus was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Andrus wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tobias Conoway, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Looking ahead, Williamson will take on Canton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Canton has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.08 runs per game on average), something Williamson will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sugar Valley Rural, they will challenge Montgomery at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Phoenix's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
