Softball Recap: Greencastle Comes Up Short

Greencastle extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 11-4. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monrovia Bulldogs. The Tiger Cubs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in June of 2025.

Ali Hassler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Greencastle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Boyd, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Monrovia, their win bumped their record up to 6-11. That five-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Monrovia's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Nevaeh Dillon gave up a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Camryn Wolfe was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Sophia Ward was another key player, earning two runs and three stolen bases.

Looking ahead, Greencastle will head out on the road to challenge Southmont at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mounties will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Tiger Cubs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Monrovia, they will host Speedway at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sparkplugs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.59 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
