Baseball Recap: Smoky Valley Takes a Loss

Smoky Valley lost against Hesston on Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Vikings came up short against the Swathers, falling 22-15. The defeat leaves the Vikings still looking for their first win of the season.

Ty Heitschmidt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 4 RBI per game. Another player making a difference was Breckin Rogers, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Smoky Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Hesston, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Smoky Valley is set to take on their familiar foe Hillsboro at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hesston will face off against rival Larned at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
