Basketball Game Preview: Whiting Oilers vs. Westville Blackhawks

Whiting hasn't had much luck against Westville recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Oilers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blackhawks at 6:00 p.m. Whiting has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Whiting is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 63-49 win over Boone Grove on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Oilers in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won four in a row.

Aleshka Alonso was nothing short of spectacular: she went 9-for-17 on her way to 27 points. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (38%). Another player making a difference was Jordyn Rivera, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards.

Meanwhile, Westville made easy work of Trinity Academy on Monday and carried off a 46-20 win.

The victory got Westville back to even at 3-3. As for Whiting, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Whiting took a serious blow against Westville in their previous meeting back in January, falling 74-14. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Blackhawks' Hillary Labis, who shot 67% from the field en route to 23 points and seven rebounds.
