The Dublin Gaels will square off against the Liberty Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dublin is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
If Dublin beats Liberty with four runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Dublin came out on top against Arroyo by a score of 4-1 on Saturday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Matthew Phelps was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Phelps was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other pitching news, Willie Maya tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Brendan Moddelmog, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elijah McNeal, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Dublin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arroyo only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Liberty, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Mountain House on Thursday.
Miles Cornell looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Chayce Formosa was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season. Dominic Staben was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Liberty's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 6.4 runs. As for Dublin, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
Dublin couldn't quite finish off Liberty in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Will Dublin have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
