Basketball Recap: Ron Brown Has No Trouble Against Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering

Ron Brown came into Monday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 61-46 victory over the Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering Panthers on Monday. That 15 point margin sets a new team best for the Monarchs this season.

Ron Brown's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hunter Brown, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Brown has become a key player for Ron Brown: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least eight boards, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Darrin Rado, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and five steals.

Ron Brown's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-3. As for Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ron Brown won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Model Secondary School for the Deaf at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
