Softball Recap: Franklin Takes a Loss

Churchill hit Franklin with a four-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots came up short against the Chargers, falling 12-4. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Savana Mullen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Makenna Goldman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Franklin has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Churchill, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-2.

Coincidentally, Franklin and Churchill will both be playing Stevenson the next time they take the field. The Patriots will host the Spartans at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, while the Chargers will play them later in the day, at 5:00 p.m.
