Volleyball Recap: Redondo Union Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Torrey Pines

Redondo Union faced Torrey Pines in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Sea Hawks fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 2-1. The Sea Hawks haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Redondo Union sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 21-25, 15-12.

Torrey Pines found their leader in sophomore Griffin Dieter, who had 26 digs. Dieter is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 13 or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Redondo Union's defeat dropped their record down to 25-6. As for Torrey Pines, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Redondo Union will host Mira Costa at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Torrey Pines, they will venture away from home to take on Carlsbad at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight.
