Basketball Game Preview: Campbell Spartans vs. Hillgrove Hawks

The Campbell Spartans will challenge the Hillgrove Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Campbell is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Chattanooga Christian just ended the team's 11-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to the Chargers.

Meanwhile, Hillgrove had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past the Cardinals, posting a 69-37 victory. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hillgrove is also on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points per game. As for Campbell, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-2.

Campbell came out on top in a nail-biter against Hillgrove when the teams last played back in December of 2023, sneaking past 52-49. Will Campbell repeat their success, or does Hillgrove have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
