Softball Game Preview: Dayton Dust Devils vs. Churchill County Greenwave

For the second straight game, Dayton will face off against Churchill County. The Dust Devils will challenge the Greenwave at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Dayton has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 21.

Dayton's last matchup with Churchill County could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Thursday. The Dust Devils came up short against the Greenwave, falling 11-1.

For Churchill County's part, Taraylynn Vershum and Sutton Yost did most of the damage at the plate: Vershum scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Yost scored a run while going 2-for-3. Yost also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

Dayton's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Churchill County, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-7.

Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dayton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .523. However, it's not like Churchill County struggles in that department as they've averaged .506. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
