Softball Game Preview: Donna North Chiefs vs. Harlingen South Hawks

Donna North is 0-9 against Harlingen South since March of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Chiefs will be playing at home against the Hawks at 5:30 p.m. Donna North has given up an average of 15.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Donna North is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 16th straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Weslaco East, falling 25-0.

Donna North saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was America Macias, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Harlingen South had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cowboys a 5-0 shutout. The Hawks' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matchups.

The result came thanks to Lexi Sandoval's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Georgia Chapa, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

Harlingen South's win bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Donna North, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-19.
