Basketball Game Preview: Princeton Tigers vs. Monticello Magic

Princeton hasn't had much luck against Monticello recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Princeton Tigers will challenge the Monticello Magic at 5:45 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Princeton took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Cambridge-Isanti by a score of 48-41.

Meanwhile, Monticello put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Cambridge-Isanti 83-19. Given the Magic's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Bluejackets are ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Monticello's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.2 points per game. As for Princeton, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-10.

Princeton was taken down by Monticello 77-46 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Princeton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
