Baseball Recap: Moore County Comes Up Short

Moore County had lost five straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 3-6 to make it six. They fell 4-1 to the Huntland Hornets. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Huntland, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

For Huntland's part, Eli Fitch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. Fitch has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Grant Jernigan was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Huntland beat Moore County by a score of 9-7 on Tuesday.
