Football Game Preview: Greer Yellow Jackets vs. Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers + How To Watch

Greer has gone a perfect 8-0 against Blue Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Yellow Jackets are taking a road trip to square off against the Fighting Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Blue Ridge took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Greer, who comes in off a win.

Greer is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Pickens to the tune of 60-14 on Friday. With the Yellow Jackets ahead 40-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Greer's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dawson Fowler, who rushed for 77 yards on only five carries, and also threw for 92 yards and one TD. Fowler's longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Greer also got a significant boost from Calvin McCoy, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 63 points the game before, Blue Ridge was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were outmatched by Seneca and fell 47-13. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Bobcats are ranked 27th).

Greer will have to contain Gavin Forrester as he made an impact in Blue Ridge's last game. He rushed for 106 yards and one score on only 12 carries, and also threw for 167 yards on 17 of 24 attempts. Forrester's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 106 rushing yards.

The victory was the third in a row for Greer, bringing their record up to 3-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.0 points on average over those games. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Everything came up roses for Greer against Blue Ridge when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 49-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellow Jackets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
