Basketball Recap: East Bladen Piles Up the Points Against South Columbus

East Bladen won the last time they faced South Columbus and things went their way on Monday too. The East Bladen Eagles claimed a resounding 66-18 victory over the South Columbus Stallions. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 22 points or more this season.

It was another big night for NeNe Ward, who went 9 for 11 en route to 24 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in shooting accuracy (82%). Another player making a difference was Laila Smith, who went 6 of 8 to rack up 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

East Bladen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in ten consecutive matchups.

South Columbus lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Trinity Strickland, who posted six points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of De'Asia Johnson, who scored eight points and three steals.

East Bladen pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points over those games. As for South Columbus, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: East Bladen beat South Columbus by a score of 61-9 on Tuesday.
