Basketball Recap: Santiago Comes Up Short

Santiago was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a hard 68-51 fall against the Savanna Rebels. The Cavaliers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Savanna's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Paul Henderson, who went 9 of 17 en route to 23 points and six rebounds. That's the most boards Henderson has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Branden Ellis, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and five steals.

Santiago's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Savanna, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.

Santiago will be playing in front of their home fans against Rancho Alamitos at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Savanna, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Santa Fe at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Savanna is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season.
