Softball Recap: Medina Takes a Loss

Medina fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Brunswick on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 7-5. That makes it the first time this season the Battling Bees have let down their home crowd.

Bella Case spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on 12 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Katie Rubino was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two runs. Another player making a difference was Ryann Allar, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Medina's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-7. As for Brunswick, their record is now 8-3.

When Medina and Brunswick next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Battling Bees will face off against Keystone and their six-game winning streak at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Brunswick will try to stop North Royalton's three-game winning streak when they meet at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
