Baseball Recap: Kiowa Indians vs. Calhan Bulldogs

Kiowa had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Calhan Bulldogs on Tuesday as the Kiowa Indians made off with a 19-11 win. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.

JD Brewer was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Paulino l Luperico was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

On Calhan's side, Josh Brecko was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Toby Monger, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and an RBI.

Even though they lost, Calhan didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 11 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kiowa only tossed seven.

Kiowa will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Manzanola at 4:30 p.m. Kiowa is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season. As for Calhan, they will head out on the road to face off against Byers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Calhan is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
