Baseball Game Preview: Chief Sealth Seahawks vs. Sultan Turks

The Chief Sealth Seahawks will square off against the Sultan Turks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Sultan will be up against a hot Chief Sealth team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Seahawks' pitchers stepped up to hand Cleveland a 9-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Seahawks, who have now won 11 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Sam Popelka looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chief Sealth let Seth Clark and Marko Woelfle run wild. Clark went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Woelfle went 1-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave Woelfle a new career-high. Brady Murphy was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Sultan can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Evergreen with a sharp 13-3 victory.

Chief Sealth pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Sultan, their win bumped their record up to 6-13.

Everything went Chief Sealth's way against Sultan when the teams last played back in March, as Chief Sealth made off with a 10-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seahawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
