Softball Game Preview: Ripon Tigers vs. Wautoma Hornets

Ripon is 0-4 against Wautoma since April of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. Ripon has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ripon is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Winneconne on Thursday. They lost 11-1 to the Wolves. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Ripon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Kwakkel, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Kwakkel's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Wautoma fell victim to Almond-Bancroft and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 9-0. The Hornets' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Ripon now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Wautoma, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Ripon might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from Wautoma when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
