North Sequoia recap October 8, 2013
Joey Woolsey and Drew Lassos provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Exeter. The connection was good for 59 yards, the longest such play in North Sequoia this season.
Liberty extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Caruthers, 34-21. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Troy Uphoff provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Chowchilla beat Corcoran.
Zach Richey threw for 145 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 7-11 with 1 interception.
Uphoff was a beast in the backfield as the Redskins beat the Panthers.
Lassos was the best receiver in the league this week as Yosemite lost to the Monarchs. Lassos racked up 4 receptions for 99 yards. Donovan Iverson helped Yosemite's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 26 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Woolsey of the Badgers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 853. He has also thrown 7 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Travis Jordan. The Liberty star has 18 catches for 414 yards.
One of North Sequoia's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Yosemite and Liberty face off next week.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Chowchilla takes on Kerman. Alex Pittz's team is currently in fifth, while the Lions are in second.
There should be lots of points scored when Mike Nolte's team and Kent Lincoln's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Hawks comes in having scored 164 this season, while the Badgers have scored 122. Liberty scored 34 points last week as it topped the Blue Raiders.
Washington Union scaled the state rankings by moving to 440 from 538 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers were able to move up by besting Ridgeview 26-0.
