Basketball Recap: Johnsburg Central Takes a Loss

Johnsburg Central lost against Bolton Central back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Johnsburg Central Jaguars were beaten by the Bolton Central Eagles 82-41. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 701st, while the Eagles are ranked 203rd).

Despite the loss, Johnsburg Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nick Sauer-Jones dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sauer-Jones has scored all season.

It was another big night for Liam Foy, who posted 20 points for Bolton Central. Another player making a difference was Jace Hubert, who earned 18 points.

With the defeat, Johnsburg Central broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-6. As for Bolton Central, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Johnsburg Central Jaguars challenge the Crown Point Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bolton Central, they will take on Indian Lake Central at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Bolton Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matches.
