Baseball Game Preview: Fort Cherry Rangers vs. Northgate Flames

Fort Cherry has gone a perfect 4-0 against Northgate recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Rangers will host the Flames at 4:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Fort Cherry's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Northgate has been banged up by 14 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

On Monday, Fort Cherry made easy work of Frazier and carried off a 9-2 victory. Considering the Rangers have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryan Huey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Matt Sieg was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Nathan Wolfe was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Northgate fell victim to Shenango and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 17-0 to the Wildcats.

Fort Cherry has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Northgate, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything went Fort Cherry's way against Northgate when the teams last played back in April of 2016, as Fort Cherry made off with a 15-2 victory. Do the Rangers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Flames turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
