Baseball Recap: Brookline Triumphs

Brookline took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Natick, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Redhawks on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted against the Redhawks since May 26, 2021.

Niko Rabiner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Brookline is 4-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Brookline saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elias Brendel, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Jonathan Mazara also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Brookline now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Natick, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-5.

Looking ahead, Brookline will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Braintree at 4:00 p.m. As for Natick, they will face off against Framingham at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
