Baseball Recap: Niles West Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

While Niles West put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Maine East. The Wolves put the hurt on the Blue Demons with a sharp 7-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Blue Demons: they've now won three in a row.

The result came thanks to Teddy Schroeder's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lucas Som was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Guzman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Niles West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Niles West's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-14. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Maine East, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

Niles West will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Blue Demons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
