Recap: Park View Patriots vs. Independence
The Park View Patriots were the 49-44 winner over Independence when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Park View took a 45-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Independence. It was the first time this season that Park View let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Park View still got an impressive performance from Anna Helstrom, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Helstrom scored a full 46.2% of Park View's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Carly Earnhart, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Park View's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2. As for Independence, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Park View will square off against Warren County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Warren County is ranked 209th, while Park View is ranked 223rd). As for Independence, they will head out on the road to face off against Freedom at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
