Volleyball Recap: Hug Triumphs

Hug's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Reed Raiders. The Hawks not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since October 16, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

While Hug won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-21.

Reed lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cathleen 'Kat' Molino, who had 12 digs and four assists. Molino is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Scarlett Rivinius, who had six digs and two aces.

Hug's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Reed, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hug will venture away from home to face off against North Valleys at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Reed, they will challenge Spanish Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight.
