Softball Recap: Gray's Creek Find Success

Gray's Creek never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Jack Britt on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Buccaneers a 15-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won nine in a row.

Hannah Welsh made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amariya Green, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Saniyah Leach was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Gray's Creek's victory bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Jack Britt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.

Gray's Creek wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-8 win against Cape Fear on the 25th. As for Jack Britt, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 19-0 victory against Seventy-First on the 23rd.
