Smithfield has gone a perfect 10-0 against Lafayette recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Smithfield will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Lafayette at 4:30 p.m. Lafayette took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Smithfield, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Smithfield made easy work of Bruton and carried off a 30-5 win.

The team relied heavily on Cheyenne Debusk, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Smithfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .846. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bruton only posted an OBP of .409.

Meanwhile, Lafayette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 24th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 18-4 to Warhill.

Kaitlin Johnson and Kelsi Isaksen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Johnson scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Isaksen went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one double. Kathryn Wicker was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases.

The victory got Smithfield back to even at 1-1. As for Lafayette, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Smithfield took their win against Lafayette when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1. Will Smithfield repeat their success, or does Lafayette has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
