Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Grants Pass

Grants Pass had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on the South Eugene Axe with a sharp 14-1 victory. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 10-0 victory on Saturday.

Brooklyn Kuykendall made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cadence Morales, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sabian Provolt, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Grants Pass hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive contests.

Grants Pass' win bumped their record up to 14-6. As for South Eugene, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.
