Football Game Preview: Hart Longhorns vs. Anton Bulldogs

The Hart Longhorns will head out to challenge the Anton Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Anton will be up against a hot Hart squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Longhorns blew past Wellman-Union, posting a 57-24 victory. While the Longhorns didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-7), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Hart's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tradien Worsham, who rushed for 218 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries, and also threw for 75 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Worsham is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 105 every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Ruben Gonzales, who picked up 205 receiving yards and four scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hart was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 326 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 210 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Another reason for the win was Hart's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. It was truly a group effort as Yael Soltero, JJ` Jimenez, and Aiden Cisnero picked up two apiece. With that strong performance, Jimenez is now averaging an impressive 5.2 total tackles per game.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Anton). Everything went their way against Dawson on Friday as they made off with a 65-40 win.

Hart's record is now 4-0. As for Anton, their record now sits at 2-3.

Hart was able to grind out a solid victory over Anton when the teams last played back in September of 2023, winning 27-20. Will the Longhorns repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
